Who are EduPlates for?

EduPlates are primarily for children ages 0 to 6. The highest impact age group is from 2 to 4 years of age. Studies have shown that when a child’s mind is not stimulated to learn during these formative years, their mental capacity to retain new information often diminishes. Research confirms that when children begin struggling in kindergarten or first grade, their academic performance is reduced, while the likelihood that they will drop out of school in later years increases.

How are EduPlates unique?

EduPlates can be used daily as serving plates and as a teaching tool. They are long lasting and durable. EduPlates versatility offer a progression of literacy levels from basic illustration identification to teaching colors, numbers, letters, shapes and vocabulary as well as creating the opportunity to stimulate critical thinking at an early age.

Why are EduPlates needed?

EduPlates help children develop their literacy and counting skills to make them “kindergarten ready”. An ever - increasing number of public school students are considered “at-risk,” and schools from every state are experiencing more and more dropouts each year. If this trend continues, multiple research studies indicate that the United States will not be perceived as a world leader or global influencer in as little as 25 years from now.

How is illiteracy impacting the USA?

The United States is facing its greatest national crisis yet – ILLITERACY. Tackling illiteracy in our country is of paramount importance on many different levels: our economic stability and workforce; the preservation of our country’s values and career opportunity; our justice system and civil liberties —even our national security will be jeopardized if we ignore this problem.

What about our schools?

Recent studies have proven that many of our school children are performing below national and international standards, specifically in reading, math and science skills.

Saving our country’s future begins with investing in the learning potential of our next generation. Illiteracy is a common thread that runs through school dropouts; gangs; drug use; crime; unwanted pregnancies; child abuse; unemployment and our country’s overcrowded jails and prisons.

With regard to our changing demographics throughout our country, Dr. Steve Murdock, former Texas state demographer stated the following at a November, 2006 literacy conference held in Dallas, TX, “We ignore the changing demographics at our own peril. If we’re going to fix things that need to be fixed, we need to do it now.” ( Dallas Morning News)

Beyond the Achievement Gap

EduPlate is focused and committed not only to assist our country’s educators to quickly close the achievement gap, but to raise the level of achievement for all students. Recent studies show the United States is lagging behind many other industrialized countries in student reading and math abilities.
